Tradiciones
Talented pianist and composer Mauricio Centeno has created a wonderful new instrumental recording of devotional songs from Latin America. Arranged for piano, violin, flute, trumpet, guitar and accordion, these familiar melodies are suitable for listening anytime. Gentle, easy-paced and calming, they make an excellent background for prayer, meditation, religious education sessions and personal devotions.
Tradiciones (Traditions) features “Oh Jesús, Buen Pastor,” “Cantemos al Amor” and ten other well-known traditional songs, each newly arranged by Mauricio. Drawn from all parts of Latin America and the U.S., these are songs Spanish-speaking Catholics will immediately recognize.
The recording features outstanding performances by Mauricio on piano—playing his 1979 Yamaha grand—Marie Johnson on flute and violin, Carlos Centeno on trumpet, Edgar Cisneros on acoustic guitar and other gifted instrumentalists. A long-awaited resource in support of the Hispanic Catholic community, Tradiciones is a great new way to experience the rich tradition of Latin American devotional music.
